This component of the project aims to provide training to local teachers focusing on their practical needs. These training workshops serve a two-fold purpose: (1) improving local teachers’ teaching skills and knowledge for better effectiveness; and (2) bringing researchers and experts to the reality of the classrooms to gain insights from practical perspectives.
In 2016, a one-day training session entitled “Using Haptic Techniques for Teaching English Pronunciation to Vietnamese Learners” was conducted for 75 local teachers by Dr. Amanda Baker and Dr Michael Burri, from the University of Wollongong.
In 2017 and 2018, two training workshops will be conducted:
Workshop 1 (November, 2017): Refocusing on speaking in high schools: Why and how?
- Dr. Michael Burri, University of Wollongong, Australia;
- Dr. Chau Thien Hiep, Can Tho University, Vietnam
Workshop 2 (March, 2018): Qualitative research in language teaching
Tentative presenter: Prof. Sue Bennett, Head of School of Education, University of Wollongong, Australia
